Pahu
The Pahu is an instrument that has been played in Hawaiian culture since time immemorial. The drum's resonant sound is said by some to represent the earth's heartbeat and be a healing instrument. The Hawaiian pahu drum, used for Hula and in religious ceremonies, is usually made from the stump of a coconut tree, whose skin is comprised of cowhide or sharkskin.
